Barrister Connect provides direct access to barristers serving every court and tribunal in England and Wales. We are expanding our team in Taunton and looking for a motivated sales professional to help match members of the public with the right legal experts.
This is a fast-paced, target-driven sales role, and we are honest about that. You will own enquiries from the first conversation through to instruction: qualifying the lead, understanding the client's situation, building trust, presenting a quote and converting it. Every call is a chance to turn an anxious enquiry into a client who feels confident they are in good hands.
It is not a hard-sell environment. The people who do well here are consultative: they listen, they ask the right questions, and they are comfortable carrying a target and a pipeline. If you have sold before, in any setting, those skills transfer directly. The legal knowledge comes with the job; the sales instinct and the care for the customer are what we cannot teach.
This is, at its core, a sales role, and the right person will be someone who genuinely enjoys selling. What makes it different is that you are not chasing cold leads or pushing something nobody wants. People come to us because they need help, often at a stressful moment. Your skill is in understanding their situation, building trust quickly and guiding them to the right decision. Strong sales people tend to do very well here because the fundamentals are the same: listening, rapport, handling objections, and closing with confidence.
Enquiries come to you from people actively looking for help. The job is to qualify quickly, understand the need and build enough trust to convert genuine interest into an instruction.
You carry an enquiry from the first call through quoting, follow-up and conversion. It is your pipeline to manage, your relationships to build, and your results to be proud of.
There are clear targets and the pace is quick. The difference is that every conversion also helps someone reach the legal support they need, so hitting your numbers and doing real good go hand in hand.
Sold before, in any industry? Whether your background is contact centre, recruitment, estate agency, retail, hospitality or B2B, the skills carry straight over. Tell us about your sales track record when you apply.
It is a fast-paced, target-driven sales environment, and we are honest about that. The people who thrive here are the ones who find it energising rather than daunting. The legal knowledge comes with the job. Those qualities do not.
Rory Nunn
Head of Direct Access, Barrister Connect
Most people do not know that their rights changed in 2004, when it became legal to instruct a barrister directly, without first going through a solicitor. Barrister Connect exists to change that, connecting people across England and Wales with specialist legal expertise simply, transparently, and at a fraction of the traditional cost.
Improving access to justice is at the heart of what we do. Every enquiry you handle helps someone reach the expert support they need.
Based in the centre of Taunton, with hybrid working. Part of The Barrister Group, which has called Somerset home for over a decade.
A great place to develop communication skills, empathy and commercial confidence. Recent graduates and career-changers are encouraged to apply.
A friendly, supportive team that guides every client through the process with expertise and empathy.
Tell us about yourself, your sales or customer-facing background, and share your CV. We read every application and will be in touch.
