Chris is known for his forensic attention to detail and commercial approach. He has thorough knowledge of the law but an acute appreciation of the commercial and operational factors that influence clients when bringing and defending claims. He has a a thriving advisory practice and is flexible to assist clients at any stage of proceedings.

  • Breach of contract claims e.g. failure to pay enhanced redundancy where value exceeds 25k.
  • Successfully mediated in dispute involving unlawful detention of £200,000 of parts and avoided counterclaim
  • Directors’ duties and Companies Act 2006.

Notable Cases

  • Negotiating a settlement with a respondent, based in England, illegally retaining £120,000 of goods owned by an NI company. Intensive negotiations and communication led to client receiving goods and resisting a counterclaim.
  • Currently involved in a commercial dispute involving an NI manufacturer and a large Dutch construction/infrastructure company re Letter of Comfort. Contract value of £866,000. Negotiation, mediation and recently drafting particulars for submission of dispute to the Commercial List in the High Court.

  • Institute of Professional Legal Studies – Degree of Barrister-at-law (Commendation). Best Advocate in the Annual Moot for Bar Trainees
  • LLM Corporate Governance (Distinction). Sole James MacQuitty QC Scholarship Holder of £15,000 for academic year 2013/2014 for LLM study. Queen’s University, Belfast
