Before entering into independent practice at the Bar, Hugo taught consumer law, contract law and advocacy for many years at university as an Associate Professor in Law.
During this time he played an instrumental part in Hone v Abbey National Plc, a successful claim against bank overdraft penalty fees that was later taken up by The Office of Fair Trading against 7 other banks in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. His breadth and depth of professional experience in this area enables him to provide highly effective advice and representation.
Hugo’s expertise in this area encompasses, Breach of Contract generally, Consumer Rights Act, Consumer Credit, Mis-selling Claims, Holiday and Travel Law, Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts, Sale of Goods Act.
In addition to his contract law work, Hugo deals with a range of other civil litigation including landlord and tenant, housing, possession claim, debt and money claims and Court of Protection.
